Default Torx Racing Kawasaki Ultra 300X Build

Not even 24 hours had passed before the Torx Racing crew began to tear into their newly acquired Ultra 300X. It began with the basics – some fancy decals, a new set of matching Hydro-Turf seat covers and a set of custom sponsons for digging hard into turns. This would be all that was needed for new Torx Racing team rider Eric Francis to win 3 out of 4 races in his Box Stock Class debut on the final weekend of the 2013 ProHydro-X Tour, September 21st and 22nd. With a lapse in the racing schedule between the end of the ProHydro-X closed course season and the next HydroDrag event, it meant it was time to open up this Ultra 300X a bit further.

For Torx Racing President Jay Milliken the destiny of this powerful machine was clear from the start. This particular 300X was to serve as the R&D vehicle for Torx Racing in the company’s venture to build high quality, high performance parts for Kawasaki watercraft enthusiasts. The first step towards that goal was to unlock the Ultra’s speed potential with a speed override module. This allowed the Ultra 300X to break past the 70 MPH barrier. Step two was to harness the extra RPMs with a custom pitched Skat-Trak impeller. The optimized impeller angle was good for another 2 MPH in top speed. Next up for modification was the ride plate. After some special machining and minor tuning the new ride plate was able to unlock another 2 MPH. All this combined began to truly unleash the relatively stock potential of this 300+ Horsepower monster and netted several back-to-back 76 MPH runs in perfect top speed conditions.

The next major steps for the Torx Racing crew are 1) to finalize some high performance Ultra ECU maps that are currently in development, and 2) to finish up the specs for new custom cam shafts for the Kawasaki Ultra. Stay tuned because the best has yet to come from the team at Torx Racing.

Very interesting read, can I ask what the pitch on the impeller is?

We removed 2 mm from the stock prop as it has worked the best for us.
